Cherry Blossom - Berries n Creme - Set 133

This beautiful kanzashi is composed of seven gradated pink/white and two white cherry blossoms. Each flower has a cream pearl mounted on a gold plated bell cap at its center. There are two rows of 30 petals on the shidare (falls). The bouquet is mounted on a 5 cm (2") silver comb. The set includes two matching cherry blossoms mounted on silver hairpins. Its overall appearance is rich and vibrant, somewhat like "berries'n creme" ice cream!


Habutae silk is hand-dyed, starched to the stiffness of paper, and cut into small square pieces. Each piece is hand folded into a single petal using sharp tweezers and “pinched” in the traditional tsumami method similar to folding origami. The petals are aligned on a flat board which is covered with our recipe of rice glue. Each silk petal is mounted on stiff card stock and carefully shaped into a desired form. Wire is used to support the flowers, which are gathered into a lovely bouquet.
